Mobile Market Analysis - Mobilink Is Still #1
With the monthly additions average around 2.5 million subscribers, 2007 has been a phenomenal year for the mobile market growth in Pakistan. Here’s a look at the numbers (from PTA site) for the first 8 Months Of 2007. A quick analysis of this data reveals few trends about market leadership.
Mobilink gained the most subscribers (5.45 million) Â in this period. Its market share has been decreasing gradually but that’s expected with the increase in competition and teledensity.
Telenor was the fastest growing company, 45% of their current subscribers (5.35 million) were gained this year. No doubt that Telenor has emerged as a strong contender. It took a small lead over Warid in March and has been able to maintain it.
The rate of growth for Ufone has been impressive as well. It gained 5.32 million of the approx 20 million new subscribers in first 8 months of this year in Pakistan. Paktel has been barely able to reverse the negative trend of subscriber losses.
Here’s the month-to-month change analysis.
Some of the reasons for Mobilink’s continued success include useful services such as Jazz Advance and smart marketing moves which has reinforced its brand. Mobile number portability - for one reason or another - did not do much to impact its subscriber count.

well mobilink is not giving much impressive services like Ufone Balance share, easy load, telenore and warid sms packages. But they are still number one little strange… i dont know why mobile users going toward them.. Dont know why??
Hey WAQAS thats because they are the first GSM company in PAKISTAN as well as their Coverage is in all over the Pakistan where telenor and warid haven’t think of….
Thats right. Mobilink has the lead from its early years and it will take some time before others catch up.

principle of marketing
mobilink is still no. one, not bcoz of its early entrance but primarily bcoz of its coverage. I used to travel across pakistan through undeveloped areas and large cities like lahore etc, but the signal strength never goes down. thats why im still using it despite of its high tariff.

there are lot of cellular services in Pakistan but still instant there is no unhidden solutions for customers like eassy access to contact, hidden call charges, error charges, lazzy response,etc many much………..? Tell us what are solutions for?

Shoaib, try researching on the cellular family solutions. Just like when you hit the corporate consumer you sell lets say 20 units the same way try concentrating on the soltuions which you can in one go sell to the eligible family members or make them switch from their existing service. Increasing unit sale per sale in consumer sales.
