Busy Line? You May Still Pay For The Call, Courtsey Of PTCL
By Babar Bhatti | October 27, 2007 | No Comments
As posted by Tee Emm on TGP. For calls to certain phone numbers, which are over a threshold of monthy charges, there may be a charge when the line is busy. Callers will get a recorded voice response telling you that the number can not be reached at this time and the caller will pay for the call. Just another way PTCL helps you serve and pays its bills! According to this news clip, PTA has asked PTCL to remove this “facility” as it is unfair.

This report and News Clip are being unfair to PTCL. Its True that this service has been activated without consent of subscribers but it can be easily deactivated.
But News clip seems to imply that for just hearing a message that callee can’t be reached, Caller will be charged. Infact its a chance for him to leave a voice message for B-Party and He can be charged for that. I guess he will not be charged if he prefers not to leave a message.
But i do have a problem with this service that Answering machine is activated after just 4 Rings. It should be more like 8-10 rings.

The tone of the news clip is anti-ptcl. But the overall public reaction to this change has not been in favor of ptcl either. I hope that with some public relation campaign ptcl can do damage control.
