Mobilink Foundation – Good Start
Recently the newly launched Mobilink Foundationcame under discussion at Telecom Grid Pakistan. Some members of the group were skeptical of the foundation and thought of it as another marketing tactic. My view on this is optimistic – whats better? a successful company with a dedicated organization or the usual half-hearted efforts on social activities without focus?
Bottom line is that as long as some useful work gets done for the society I don’t mind the marketing advantage for the company … thats a side benefit, a bonus. I hope that the Mobilink Foundation succeeds at their stated aim and it is staffed by people who truly care about the future of children in Pakistan.
Our vision is free access to education for children and healthcare for all Pakistanis. We seek to promote a country in which all children go to school and people have access to healthcare, irrespective of their financial strength and background. We aim to bring about sustainable improvements to the living standards of the underprivileged by working with local communities and relevant organizations within Pakistan.
The Mobilink Foundation supports projects focusing on two main areas: Education and Health. Whenever possible, we leverage on our telecommunications infrastructure and expertise to further these causes and give back to the community Mobilink operates in.
We support initiatives aimed at:
- Reducing illiteracy
- Vocational training
- Supporting underprivileged talents in attaining scholarships
- Research within health and education for social development
- Improving health access in Pakistan
- Improving primary education in Pakistan

Hi to alls
It is a good post and really like it .Telecommunication is a good field in Pakistan, espacially Mobiles connections. Now this time mobile companies are very successful because mobile companies gave many benefits to their customer.
Good point Tee Emm. PR folks are known for their hype.
On the other hand I find this Telenor initiative very interesting from a “symbolic” point of view. The actual impact of solar panels in this case may be small (and the cost high) but this is the kind of “thinking” we need.
Thanks for the comments!
Telenor is also ‘helping’ to reduce Pakistan’s carbon footprint (and ‘relieving national power grid load’) by switching to solar power for some of its remote radio sites. That there was no power to do it the conventional way in the first way could be conveniently overlooked.

We can have positive publicity without larger-than-life claims but may be the PR guys always take time to realize the fine line in between!
