The Zong Way

Almost after a year of its arrival to Pakistan, China Mobile is making a big impact on the telecom market of Pakistan. With Paktel’s new Zong campaign it has taken a fresh, bold and humorous approach to marketing. The choice of name is interesting - a bit “Chinese” it seems. I found the ad hilarious (Himmat hey to pass kro warna bardasht kro). No doubt, the bar has been raised.

Another notable point was that the pre-launch buzz was created by using quite a few channels including social networking. The TV campaign has been well received as well. See the clip below.

The last promotions and service packages caused a big surge in subscribers to Paktel. Let’s see how this one goes!

to be honest i liked their print campaign, although it was not that easy to read that i have to turn the page left right up and down. It was funny and breath of fresh air and worth reading. I also agree that the TVC jingle is very good and people are liking it. Thanks god they didn’t follow the prevailing telecom advertising tactics.

We have yet to see how these creative advertising campaigns will help CM to boost their sales as we know that apart good advertising campaign you need to have agressive sales and distribution team and channels.

I hope and wish that these two departments will compliment each other as they both are working for common objectives.

the print ad was far better… the TVC really is just a copy of Telenor… with a Song they should have promoted a Zong tune….

Good to see that now it will create more competition in the market and consumer will get more cheaper rates.

But i think their this add is also very cool and i dont think its copy of Telenor, from where it looks copy ?

It is realy good to hear an other mobile phone company is launching in my country now the competition in the IT industry will increase and customers would get definite benefit which is very fruitfull of the citizens of the country.

I hope the calling prices and packages of the ZONG would be more interesting and affordable for the customers. Song of the Zong is nice but the theme is just like Telenore there should be difference between Zong and others but it is realy good step of China towards the healthy friendship of both countries Pakistan & China.
