Green Communication Or Suggest The Title
Throughout my recent stay in Malaysia, I tried to find GSM towers but did not find one and for me it was very strange. Finally I solved the mystery. In cities like Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Cyberjaya, Petaling jaya etc, communication equipment was placed on all the high rise buildings and that is why it was not visible. However, between cities and in small towns, authorities have placed pre-fabricated towers made of synthetic fiber or plastic like material and good thing is that these communication towers look like trees and thus become invisible among other trees and plantation. I suppose, it is an eminent effort to keep landscape neat and to preserve the environment while deploying technology.

Here in Pakistan, they dont even think about human beings you ae talking about enviroment. Let them play their dirty politics.
In pakistan nothin is done for common man and only thing which matters is safeguarding interests of corporate sector.
Whereby I totally agree to the above comments, my stand is if we know the problem WHY not DO something about it????
The audience of this blog would be some senior employees of telecom companies of Pakistan as well. Realizing the problem above, why cant they propose to the management to take initiatives of replacing/enacting cell towers that are more environment friendly. I am sure it would cost less both financially and environmentally if we take steps for this.
The matter is not only the politics but also that we DONT STAND UP too often for the RIGHT thing.
Think About It!!!
Cheers
Tee Bee is Right.
Good point Tee Bee.
We took the first step by bringing this issue up. I recall that Telenor did some work on alternative energy for their towers. There are many improvements possible. If there are enough people who express their concern and ask the companies to do something, they will take action.
Lets spread the word.
Sir, Dreaming such kind of green cell sites is not fair for country like Pakistan, a country where we are already cutting forests and forests in northern region for housing schemes likes New Murree.
There are lot of hurdles for these companies to apply international standards of installing cell sites in such a way that no body can be effected by its looks and generators voice. I have worked in engineering company whose business was to fix new site and make it operational. There are different Governement departments involved in getting final NOC for fixing cell site. Very hectic and painful work. Wapda is the main hurdle so most of sites are still working on generators. Then there is a security issue all over Pakistan. Our nation is thief by birth. They even takes away useless things or destroys them without any purpose. There is no sense of responsibility.
I tell you that once one telecom company decided to install micro sites on trees, poles and inside shopping centres for more better coverage and service… they installed few for testing purposes but in few days some of these micro sites were taken away by some one…it has no use for common man but it is a big loss for company. So dear, these dreams can’t come true without injecting sonse of responsiblity as a nation in Pakistan. Really very bad situation in terms of ethics and professinalism in Pakistan. Every body is really to sell norms, ethics and social values for the sake of money. Money is a power. People don’t see person’s background …they evaluate his personality on the basis of his financial strength.. regardless, he is MAJA or SAJA….
I think even its blessing for such nation that high technologies are available for their use but ” When you gives match in the hands of Monkey, He will burn whole Jungle”. So its better to keep match away from them and give them only service…and don’t bother about green house…green city etc etc.
