Just want to clarify: Warning as a Wake up Call and Marketing as Marketing Material. I just relaized that Pakistanis go beyond the lines in understanding a thing. So this does not mean that Warning them to do good otherwise will blow their team's head off! I'm sure they took in that sense. I'm willling to bet on it, bloody desis :)

Telenor's Marketing change is clear above all, with their professional attitude and approach. Mobilink the so-called largest, there are multiple ways to look at their scope of work and operation inside the market. They're trying come up with marketing streched beyond the realistically available market, which won't take them anywhere. They having personal relationships with certain businesses, and trying to promote the same by jv or in their ads doesn't make any sense for the consumer. Like how many of their consumers use Citi Bank as primary? Where are these things coming from, even after they very well know their market, or on a second thought they don't I guess. This should go out as a warning to them that they have been running mom pop shop inside their marketing for a really long time now.

Amir - very right. I also think that a professional approach with strong management and leadership is the winner here.

In Pakistan we have 4 flavor of management Style in GSM arena.

Pakistan Managment UFone
Mix of Arab / Pak Mobilink
Arab Warid
European Management Telenor

This catch up by Telenor is a clear implementation / win of Strategic management theory into practice by Telenor and definitely rings the bell for those who said the European/Western management style is not suitable for the third world countries like Pakistan.
