Mobilink Selling Network Quality - iPhone Not Included
Saw this ad in Dawn and youtube. The network quality (and signal coverage strength) is something which leading mobile companies love to market. I have seen Verizon and ATT use this advertising approach this in the US. Mobilink is taking a similar approach to remind its target customers about the reliability, extent and reach of Mobilink’s network. Roadside assistance, South Asian style.
Oh by the way, the iPhone shown in the ad is another intersting touch. So now, does it mean that we will see more and more iPhones in mobile ads? or does it also mean that Mobilink is working to become the iPhone carrier in Pakistan?

The tv is nice, print is average but I like the television thing - no wonder I’ve heard people saying ‘different work’, makes sense. I thought they were refering to this print ad. The guy on the other hand doesn’t seem bit worried about her wife stuck in middle of no where. He is smiling like he just got out of the circus or something.
This is the sign that mobile market is moving towards maturity and saturation, these sort of marketing gimmicks is implemented when the new sign up curve started to travel down from its peaks.
Thats really funny — “He is smiling like he just got out of the circus or something.”
May be she is not his wife :)
You’re right. I would never even had picked the phone. Simply Cancel the call and shut the phone on her face. If mobile companies can come with some service with ‘call sense’ feature where the number from your wife maps back to her intentions of whether she is calling to waste your time, needs cash, needs car for no reason, wants to ask the most stupid question there is or wants to trick you into eating outside tonite. Babar what do you say.
Can we have something as a Value Added Service to sense this nonsensical segment so our time is not wasted during the day where you have million other things to do than to listen to their ‘dear diary, I wore pink today’ stories?
By the way, Ufone brought an excellent campaign about network quality and then Mobilink as usual had to copy them and claimed quality.
There is some originality and creativity in Ufones Ads I believe compared to same old storylines of roadside assistance for a beautiful girl.

Going through PTA report, if you go by percentage of cell sites per subcriber, Mobilink is second to Telenor. This tells us that Telenors network quality is much better. Further more, Mobilinks cell sites are spread over more cities/ villages then telenor. Which further reiterates that Telenor has stronger quality network.
Qamar, why wasn’t that noticed if it was so different? Does it tell us that you basically need to build on a popular idea and roadside things clicks to the Pakistani consumer. The idea may be different on Ufone end but I guess they didn’t vibrate it properly and where as in Mobilink’s case they did. You need to shake the pinata in order to get the sweets out, remember!
Well, this add is not a series of Quality adds made by Mobilink in Past. Just see an other stupidity which most of guys not observed… Lady is shown in hilly area with a perception that other companies not givies services there… mean while his Huby/Friend or else is shown in any compnay but same perception is given that other companies not even covers rural areas ” As he attends call on balck berry phone, a man standing near him says SIGNALS…!” What a coincidence… Lady and gent both showed at such places …where as per Mobilink flop Marketing team perception..No other company covers network coverage.
What a stupidity they tried to show us.
Actual reality is this that in my home (which is very open and in center of main city of Pakistan) only one signal of Mobilink network comes. We sent our complaint so many times in their offices/emails/directors etc etc but problem still same ( from last 5 years)…. My and spouse usage was also very high… Now as Zong came… Their signals are 100% in or out of rooms so we shifted same numbers to their network. Good voice quality and excellent GPRS speed.
This is a reality of this Mobilink. Technology wise… Telenor is much much better than Mobilink.
1. DO NOT Blame Mobilink for the Million Trees surrounding your house and signals dropping for that.
2. DO NOT Roam around the house while you talk SIT ON A CHAIR at ONE PLACE and then talk.
3. ZONG is NOT from TELENOR.
4. “companies not givies services there” - Yes, OTHER COMPANIES NOT GIVES SERVICES THERE.
5. He is NOT HIS HUBBY (duh how can a huby be away in all scenes).
6. I will fire a ROCKET at your ZONG connection IF I see you complaining AGAIN.
I hope we understand eachother.

The ad is opposite to the reality….. really ……. i have been a victim of this “poora signal” poora Pakistan……… for that ask any mobilian about services in Gulshan e iqbal block 2…. :) simply “PATHETIC”
For sake of calling back to the customer they do call however they do nothing in actual………
