Wateen’s WiMAX Featured At CIO Magazine
CIO Magazine has covered Wateen’s WiMAX launch and its partnership with Motorola in Pakistan. The article is very brief and falls short of mentioning link dot net and WiTribe.
Wateen has placed an order with Motorola to provide more of 198,000 more CPE units for the accelerating markets. This order has been recognized as one of the largest orders for WiMax CPEs in the world.
The CPE, or Customer Premises Equipment, enable consumers, small businesses and Pakistan’s largest enterprises to access wireless services — a vast range from basic telephony and fast internet access to high-end data services such as virtual private networks.
Whether or not the solution is something that the Pakistani market is ready for, is yet to be seen. however the ‘proof of concept’ of the subscribers in Pakistan is right here, and has already opened the door to two other competitors launching services in the market in the past two months.

can anyone please stop them (wateen) for spreading this news (198,000 cpe). Its been more than three months they are beating this drum. Ordering anything is not an achievement, as my friend said that it is like you are standing in bakery, order 198,000 eggs and start jumping with joy that you placed this much big order, dear this is a joy for the bakery not the one who buy the eggs.

Wateen WiMax in Pakistan…
well said khurram , i agree with you
at khurum: pretty fine example - cool, I like it! But remember that if the buyer forsees that the thorough egg selling season is next week, then his dance of joy is justified, for the sake of it having the largest stock making equipment availability and quick availability as a non-issue. when you analyse something it is usualy a double-feed activity by keeping both possibilities open. your friend is good in analogy, i’m impressed, but weak in maths :) Guess now you got something to tell him as well!
Whats the point of launching new services when most of the areas of the city (Karachi) are not covered.
