Mobilink Infinity Arrives: Initial Offering In Karachi
The soft launch announcement about Mobilink Infinity, Mobilink’s Internet and telephony service, is out. This is another milestone for WiMax in Pakistan. Unlimited data usage and voice for Rs. 1200 at 1 Mbps! For the residents of Karachi these are good introductory rates, valid till October 2008. There’s the initial cost of Rs.16K for CPE etc.
Full information and details about this offer is not available so its hard to say if it is just a teaser offer or will it be around for a while. From a marketing point of view it seems that the official media campaing and website were not launched first. Perhaps Mobilink has learned a thing from Wateen’s product launch mistakes. According to the announcement, “Mobilink Infinity is now an operational business arm of Mobilink. Mobilink Infinity will provide high speed and reliable internet connectivity along with access to a landline through VoIP.” Thanks to Uzair for posting the info on TGP!

WiMAX space will soon be very crowded… But the question is how big is the ARPU pie ?

There must be some kind of catch in Mobilink’s wimax launch which will be reveled in some months time. It cant be this perfect!
well mobilink wimax service is state of the art with good back up and deployment team, moreover they are initially reaching the SOHO customers then come to corporate side.
Team is lead by Naeem Zamindar who is an asset for Mobilink backed up by some good core team.
Let’s hope Mobilink keeps its promise…..
Naeem Zamindar also sounds like an asset, get it ‘Zamindar’ ;)
Seems like the karachiites are getting better and better options to choose from as far as broadband is concerned. We non-karachi walas are definitely jealous. Any idea when they might be coming to other cities???
WoW, it’s great.
Does any one know it is provided by Mobile WiMAX or Fixed WiMAX service?
The WiMax licensed issued by PTA is only for fixed used.
It is mobile WiMAX.. same as Wateen have. But at present time, no known device is compatible to work without CPE. Nakia has announced new mobile phone for WiMAX mobile and as it will launch then you can use it for Mobile WiMAX. But Nakia has announced it for USA customers right now. Dont worry you will find mobile WiMAX enabled devices very soon. Intel is also working on introducing WiMAX enabled Laptop ( that will work without CPE).
I am glad to see more players jumping in the WiMax space, WiMax is excellent technology, Wateen messed up their launch showing extreme unprofessionalism, if Mobilink takes it along well, I am sure they are going to win this game ! (just exactly like they are a big name in cellular space - poora signal, poora pakistan).
All the best to Naeem Zamindar !
For all of you joining us right now, Naeem Zamindar has bought Infinity. The new name is Ninfinityz. Mr. Zouhair Khaliq while speking on the occasion said ” I dreamt of this day that It would never come, but as Naeem made it possible we’re selling this to Naeem as his advance birthday gift coming up in a month or two.” The PR Manager Mobilink Omar Manzoor reminded the CEO that if he has forgotten to take his “don’t forget” pills on which Zouhair said “I think you should start taking these pills because you’re the one who told me not to take them for a couple of days”. The WiMAX is the name of the game for the future where not only teen but young old and oldest are going to be riding the wave. It is believed that consumer base is going to touch somewhere around 25000 WiMAX users with Wateen at 16000 and Mobilink adding the rest EOY08. This is IshqSubhanallah reporting live from Ye baat hai Sach Wallah studios.
If Wateen after December 16th launch (7 Months) is at 16000 connections (adding 2285 connections per month). The wimax user should touch more than that. The indivdual connections for each company won’t grow, but the WiMAX pie would grow as a whole (meaning not in a ‘10000 from Wateen and 10000 from Mobilink’ fashion but 10,000 would be fought by Wateen and Mobilink e.g. 4500 from player J and 5500 from player Q, the pie being 10,000 for the rest of 2008) that depends on who would take the lead. This is just the consumer figure, Then there are aprox 1600 SMEs in Islamabad and Rawalpindi alone looking for speedy solutions without last-mile cost/hassle associated.
hey ALL
im using Wimax of Wateen … not a good quality service … need some advices 4om u all tht it is gud to take infinity connection rather than wateen’s ??
im a computer science student, I use net alot n a regular boy to call internationally … (wateen have international calling facility n mobilink doesnt ) ….
wht to do ??
thnx…
As a user of Mobilink Infinity I think that “Infinity” is so much better then “wateen”, because Infinility signle strength, technical team, deployment team and customer support is highly professional and easily approach to concern person.
Mobilink infinity works perfect for me. I recently subscribed for the 1Mb connection, and surprisingly I am getting exactly 1Mb. In comparision with Wateen, this is much much better. Specially the equipment, mobilink is using CPE device of ZyXEL, which has got both wired and wireless connectivity, so u can easily enjoy the service on you laptop or other handheld devices anywhere in your home. The only problem I am currently facing is that the sound quality of the VoIP phone line that comes with the package is not very good. Other than that I am enjoying till now and hopefull that mobilink will maintain the quaility of service.
Technical service department’s response isn’t good so far. They use to argue with even more qualified customer companies. We launch complain twice but no one arrive at our vicinity to resolve technical problems. Internet connection loose browsing in average 4minutes.
I am using mobilink, and its sure good both internet and telephone, you can make your wired or wireless lan with the CPE. Signals are strong (At my premises). service Support is good. i have test several time my bandwidth (1Mbps) and it’s 8 times 1 Mbps, 2 time slightly less then 1 Mbps, out of ten.
They have stopped sales, i don’t know why but the I called the Sales guy for an other connection and he said that they will start sales after a few weeks. A friend ordered a connection and the installation has not taken place.
Also heard that there is some movement at the top, like some people have joined wateen or warid or something.
It was a very good service and good things in pakistan never last, so i guess this is the end.
Lets see when the service starts as I was truely satisfied, better then PTCL’s DSL and WorldCALL’s HFC network.
Anyone having info please do let us know.
Dear Jak,
I am from Mobilink Infinty support and deployment team, dont worry we will start sale after this week i.e by monday Insha Allah
we stopped due to some technical issues because we dont want our customer to be bothered by any problem until we solve each and every before sale,
so dude dont worry we have got a team of 40 Electronic Engineers
we can, infact we will handle any challenge in this regard Insha Allah
Rgds
Mr Anonymous
hiding my name for some official reasons
This good thing had not yet started how can it last.
Since its a soft lauch and right now company is implementing a fast
and efficient system to process the connection request.
Due to this they have stopped selling for few days only….
But will be back shortly…
Since I work for Mobilink infinity, it have to go miles…
Dan and Ann,
All good guys, but one of your team members have recently joined wateen I heard, and the day he joined, July 23rd, was the last day of sales. (Its on other forums as well, I am in no way associated with Mobilink or Warid). Someone leaving like this, I don’t know. Infact I heard two people together at key director level in infinity have left you guys.
Anyways, I am happy with the service and waiting for the sales to start again so that I can get a second connection.
I dont really care who comes and who goes as long as I keep getting the service.
Lets see what Zubair has to say about infiniti on the 5th? :-)

This is where they talk about him moving to Warid.
hey all u who r using can pleazz tell me how is the services provided by mobilnk infinity and when this service will be available and is it available in gulshan-i-iqbal block 4 karachi. and where to buy it.
Faisal Siddiqui, thats the name of the guy who sold it to me. His number is 0302-8255394. Good guy but he is saying that sales are haulted, still you should call him and get yourself listed so that you may get it as soon as they open sales.
And the service is awsome, i use 3 machines and a PS3 (Call of Duty - Modern warfare, online gaming)at the same time and i have no complains. Plus they have built in wifi so i can move the lappy around without any restrictions.
I have used WorldCALL and PTCL in the past, this is by far the best. Youtube and torrents are a different experience on their service, truely “broadband”.
Hey Mannu,
Service is available in block 4 gulshan…
More over there is a blanket coverage in Karachi…
Currently Mobilink is offering connections by personel selling only.
I can provide you one, just give me a call on 0300-8256273.
JAK,
Yes you are right these guys had left the company, but be assured
it has nothing to do with the sales.
The reason of haulting the Sales is mentioned above. Its for the betterment
of the services. Mobilink is striving to get rid of the outdoor CPEs and soon
you will get strong indoor signals with better services.
Mobilink Infinity will be a New Era In Communication…
I am doing my Master’s Dissertation on Mobilink’s customer orientation and innovation, so i need data to collect about it. I have already published questionnaire online, so i have request you all to please take participation in this survey which will enable me to reach on conclusion. Your response will be strictly anonymous. You will not be asked for your name or any other identification.

Hmmm…. nice comments thou, hmm never tried the service but if you want a real change in Internet LIFE of Pakistan then grow up from 2MB Circuit so user can have the real broadband :). No offense but doesnt have any attraction.
Mobilink people on the second hand are not very guest-happy people which shows that they are not very customer centeric or happy to hear their customers (this not about inifnity but in general). Me and my colleague recently visited them and this was supposed to be a senior level meeting set a week before with one of their departments, and they offered a cold cup of coffee to us which was not a cold coffee, if youre thinking. Half of their team didn’t show up and remained absent thorughout the session. This shows how irresponsible they’re. They ruined their own image. They not only embarrased us but were trying to get rid of us. :) They have an open inivtation from us to come to our office so we can teach you how guests are taken care of. Read the word ‘teach’ twice in case you missed it for the first time.
2 weeks before that we went to meet their BroadBand team and they treated us very well. We met Suhail Jan who was extremely guess-oriented person and their whole team was very upcoming in their conversation. So this shows the difference between their GSM and BBU side. I guess their BBU has a long way to go.
Zouhair Khaliq should be taking note of things like these their people are doing, because at the end of the day this is the image which is being carried forward into the market corporate, consumer or otherwise, no matter how hard he tries to maintain the image up. If you go into Telenor meeting rooms, they are very planned with instructions and ‘to-do’ lists. Shows how organized they’re. Their people always show up.
Hi all
I live outside Pakistan and unfortunately no voip service is available here in Pakistan for us.
Lots of Pakistanis living abroad are using DIDs to talk to their families.
Only braintel is providing half cooked voip and brain has also stopped selling new connections.
I have seen some posts from Wateen and Mobilink s’ guys, i am wondering if voip kind of services could be offered to us.
There is a huge potential for that and i think that niche has been untapped.
Any idea of any voip related service that will be offered in near future ?
Hey Ismail,
