I can’t believe that I am doing another post on McDonald but this is an interesting marketing tactic. It is about mobile coupons in action at McDonald’s SMS Lounge in Germany.

What do 99% of all people have in common? They love to get something for free! With the SMS Lounge, McDonald’s invited customers to save money with their mobile phone. One text message was enough to register at your favourite restaurant for the service. In the following months, people received a mobile voucher directly from the restaurant onto their phone every two weeks. The coupons – embedded in a QR code - could be redeemed by scanning them at the restaurant. Food delivery at it’s best!

McDonald’s SMS Lounge…
Hmm, shouldn’t McDonalds be focusing on improving and
adding to it’s menu, instead of these sideshow tactics ?.
I mean the place has a clown running around and they hand
out toys to kids with their meals, after they have jumped up
and down in their jungle gyms… for cry’in out-loud! what
about the food ?. You know, the thing you went inside
McDonalds for, in the first place ?.
Now I guess something for the bigger kids.
All I want is for my Big Mac not to smell funky, or find out that
the coleslaw in my McArabia has turned brown and tastes like
vinegar.
That’s all I want. I don’t want a shiny toy, I don’t want no
coupon.
McDonald’s is not your material and Mobile Coupons is the latest fastfood outlet trend moving in. You should do two things, start updating yourself on market directions and change your resturant and according to your taste try Kabul Food Hut on GT Road. Seems like all you do at Mcdonald’s is stare at the jungle gym kids and their moms.
