I have been using 1MB World Call Wireless Broadband for a couple of days. The downloading speed it average. But I would have to agree with everyone, that the prices are sky high. They need to reduce the prices in order to stay in the business or they will lose their customers. I’m more likely to be one of them!!

People stop complaining without having the right information, or knowing the exact problem. I am using ptcl evo 3.1Mbs(Rawalpindi) for the past 3 to 4 months, it is working fine. The maximum download speed u can get with evo 3.1 is 385 KiloByte/s and most of the time i am getting in b/w 200 to 325(peak hours not included). at night from 9 to … i exactly don’t know for how long, but the speed get worrse, much worse thn it should be.That is one big problem, when u have full signal and still no speed.
I opted for Worldcall as PTCL didnot work at my office located in basement (with window near my table) and Garden town exchange is only 500m away, moreover there was no restriction on downloads.
When I went to purchase the Worldcall USB I was told that it will not work in Karachi due to some frequency issues. However there was no mention of it not working in Islamabad/ Rawalpindi rather they emphasised roaming in 50 cities so I paid extra Rs 100/- to enjoy roaming.
Last week I had a meeting in Rawalpindi, and later when I tried to connect it would not, even the helpline 111-111-965 is not active, so I called 042-111-111-965 and learnt that they dont have service in RWP/IBA, capitol city.
It was very depressing, a this was the sole purpose of buying USB, I definetly am returning it because if I have to use it only in my office there are many faster options.
Suggest you guys think before you leap,

i just want to say that the prices offered by worldcall are too much
now, ptcl is in competition, and i think that ptcl is far far better than world call.
moreover, ptcl is offering 3.1Mbps and they are charging Rs. 2000 for that.

PTCL EVO purchase on 12 Aug, 2009.
But the main problem I guess is that the PRICE is too high (activation & monthly charges) …..compares to the price of other available packages…. LIKE PTCL EVO … that gives speed of 3Mb at 2000 / month …. And further more problem……..
Video streaming is poor.
Downloading is so so.
I am getting is normally around 35 to 36 KB ….
Now that’s the average speed I got…. any time of a day….
The Peak speed ( when less people are using the service ) I got 125 to 171 KB for half and hour….. !! Which is exciting for me :P
Please upgrade EVO services and price reduce.

I just buy ptcl EVO 3.1Mbps last month July 18th i already used before Wateen WiMax and Worldcall Evdo they all make fool all people now i have Ptcl EVO 3.1 Mbps there on website also help center say maximum or Average download speeds from 300 kbps to 500 kbps! but that time i buy till now today 10 August i never seen more than 150 or 175kbps its most of time 96kbps or 125kbps even i check it morning , after noon and evening its same now let see whats wrong there how can they gives us 500kbps even that account only 3.1Mbps they cant able to gives us more than 250kbps or 300kbps downloading speed they write on web page lie and total wrong they just try to make fool if you have 1Mbps account then maximum downloading speed 100kbps or if u have 2Mbps then maximum downloading speed 200kbps. How can Ptcl Evo 3.1Mbps gives us 500kbps i smile lot coz i also did not think before buy that but i know that time they lie i just buy after think that latest maybe they will gives me 250kbps or 300kbps but not now they juts 125kbps. Here in our Wonderful Country all company invest money for IT and Cell phone services all just take money they did not gives us return. They are much danger than robbers because robber show us guns and get amount and that companies make fool and play with us and got amount its a cheating. Wateen , Worldcall now its time Ptcl Evo i got so bad experience here. Did any one think how much we are poor and backward to other countries ?? Japan , China , Singapore , Uk , Canada , Turky and many more they have more than 4Mbps account for home user and 4Mbps means 4Mbps unlike Ptcl Evo say some and gives different. Please stop play with people or if u cant able to gives good service. Any way this is our Country here all come for investment IT and telecommunication because they invest 10% and get to people 1000% ….
Assalam-O-Alikum ….
Well there is not really a problem from the service… !!
and Customer service is fine….. !! I’ve been using it for a month now.. the best thing of this connection is that it not automatically disconnect after a time, as in PTCL Dialup and PTCL V-FONE ( I’ve used both of them ) Speed I am getting is normally around 35 to 36 KB ….
By the way I am using 256Kbps Service… !!
Now that’s the average speed I got…. any time of a day….
The Peak speed ( when less people are using the service ) I got 115 to 161 KB for half and hour….. !! Which is exciting for me :P
But the main problem I guess is that the PRICE is too high…..compares to the price of other available packages…. LIKE PTCL EVO …… that gives speed of 3Mb at 2000 / month ….
But the good news is that World Call is planning to launch TWO new Packages for WORLD CALL WIRELESS BROADBAND … SOON : AS written on their Website… !!
Let’s hope they reduces the price a bit… !!
Ohh & 1 last thing….. The best way to judge a service is just try it yourself…. People didn’t suggest you the right thing… !!
World Call bring you money back guarantee for 45 days…. You can use the service and than decide…. it’s up to you……!!
i am your 2 old coustumer but i am not satisfied with your service plz cut down the rates of wireless broadband 1mb atleast 1500 rs is good
pec the ptcl broad giving 1mb in 1000 rs
AOA;
I think the prices of the wireless product should be reduced to 50%, the monthly charging rate is OK as compare to DSL Broadband.
Hi Everyone.
I had a free time today and have read all the comments of this discussion thread. I have concluded that……… I am not going to buy this product rather wait for another good option with which have good quality, customer services and particularly low price.
Dear , this is malik from Abu Dhabi sorry to say Evdo service extremley bad they are only making money ,few months before my brother purchse evdo device and now all time i m looking them when they will connect, this device is not connecting some time two days some time one day ,may be they forget how many times they complain now they tired and paying monthly bill to world call, this is pakistan IF IN WORLD CALL any responsible person contact to me my cell #00971506719824.if some body contact to me from world call i will again submit my comments .
Dear all,
no doubt service and technology is excellent, but cost is a bit higher. I am not saying that cost is higher than other competitors, but as per pakistani circumstances, it is a bit higher.
PTCL has also offered same service with some low price and batter specs.
Please must see its details before buying worldcall wireless broadband.
Aziz
few months ago i am using worldcall usb net but i am switch over to ptcl brodband because service of world call is very bed i am using 512kb/s and download speed is just 10to15kb/s i am advised to every person dont buy world call evdo if you buy you will face same problem
DEAR WAHAT THE HELL!
LET ME KNOW IF THIS DEVICE WILL WORK ONLY WITH LAPTOPS.
I DIDNT HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE FOR USING THIS TYPE OF INTERNET BUT HAVE SOME IDEA ABOUT PTCL 1MB CONNECTION THAT IS TOOOOOOO SPEEDY.
HERE WORLD CALL OFFERING RUPEES 1200/MONTH/512KB WIRELESS AND I THINK THAT SPEED WILL MUCH SLOW.
CONNECTION FEE PER MONTH SHOULD BE 500/MONTH WILL SUITEABLE FOR STUDENTS AND SPEED MUST BE FAST AND UNLIMITED DOWNLOAD PER MONTH.
i am using v wirless but i want to use world call but i dont know how use to this. please send me every information about this
I don’t think that World Call will reduce the monthly price. They are looking for the competitor but I am sure PTCL about to come with good price then World Call reduce the price.
Im using WC wireless internet with ADU-520A device. what i want to know is that does WC allow port forwarding for p2p softwares. i called at their help line 4 times to ask them about PF, but they even dont know about port forwarding and call it call forwading instead of PF, and always says to me that we will call you back but i never received any call back from them. According to me what i faced, their customer care sucks. If anyone know port forwarding in WC then please share with me. Thanks
worldcall is cheper then ptcl i am using worldcall its really good in gulber where i live and also i am using it when i am moving around the lahore, it is obius that every one needs time to cover every where, but honestly it is working every where in lahore.
Shaz
we also did a 3 month usage review on ITT of worldcall’s evdo, pasting the link here so everyone can read our experience with the product…
http://www.ittazee.com/2009/05/31/worldcall-evdo-broadband-service-the-3-month-usage-review/
It is very expensive as compare to ptcl.
salam,
y kitne arse k lye valid hogee.
Very costly specially for students. There is a dire need to decrease the tarrif and offer good package to students.
Now a days i’m using worldcall wireless for internet which have 575/month nd speed decreases day by day (3kb/ps) i recieved which is too low, i go to Worldcall head office Aibak Road near PTV Station nd met Nadeem Sahib, which is senior customer relation officer to change my package frm postpaid to prepaid on 15th May 2009, nd today is 27th May still my package was not changed, nd they say we don’t know abt the prblm………… so i advised to all don’t buy WorldCall Evdo Because they have the same issaues…. they never give cheque to customer who even return device within 15 days nd simply said we don’t know….. for more info read karachi ppl’s comments who used this before yu…..
well im using O2 network wireless broadband provided by my mobile service provider and the USB dongle has been given to me free of charge. In my opinion , worldcall should offer the USB device free of charge to it’s customers subject to a one year contract.
here in UK all the wireless broadband providers adopt the same technique in order to capture the maximum target market..worldcall should not only introduce the international recongnized technologies but also offer the packeges and offers in customer’s best interest.
thanks
The worldcall company is lier, I purchased a connection with 1Mbps at 5th May 2009 and i am getting 18 to 20 Kb download speed from 1Mbps connection. Is this 1Mbps connection? My foot i would like to say worldcall finish to make fool the customers if you don’t have ability to fulfill customer requirement don’t make any commitment.
Close your company coz your company is cheat and i am the victim.
Don’t purchase guys it totally flop.
The standard of Worldcall EVDO is much much better than any other service provider. Launch of the same in Lahore probably in mid of May 2009.
The most attractive news for EVDO users in terms of services is that Worlcall has been taken over by Omantel (A renowned group of Oman in telecom sector). Be assured that Omantel would never compromise on services. This is my experience. Now worldcall is know as Worldcall telecom limited (A omantel company). So we can buy the EVDO product with a strong impression since the product/services are being controlled by an Omani company
Qaisar Qureshi
Monthly costs to much it should be just 1000 Rs/- in 512kps and worldcall net speed is very good
WorldCall download speed FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR below the connection speed you purchase.
I have a 512KBPS connection yet the download speed is only 1KBPS.
You decide if WorldCall is a dishonest and liar company?
Monthly costs to much it should be just 600 Rs/-
I’m just waiting for their service to be rolled in , in lahore so that the price war should be started in this section as well
Friendz
Hope this device will make history in lahore i am waiting for the service launch
I agree with those who says the device is very expensive.I think ppl shouldn’t worry about how much WorldCALL is investing in telecom rather they should say thnx to World Call that they are serving our country thru various telecom services, and this 1 EvDo in Karachi is an excellent 1 a handy mobile device.i think they should provide services outside karachi city..or in entire sindh
Hi Friends,
This is really very bad service, world call is fails to provide the commited bandwidth so please do waste your money and time on it. I have one and from last 8 days I have got 1.4 to 4.0 KB/S so its lower than that of PTCL Dial up connection. Calling support but they ediot ever says that your problem soon resolve. So I am advising every one please don’t be trapped in world call EVDO.
I am using BlackBerry with EVDO…can anyone tell me if i can use it with Worldcall???
@MAX
Which frequency EVDO modem you have installed in your laptop? I have 450 and they configured my device…Its working good…
Regards
EvDo User
Well finally managed to get the service in Phase 6/8 FHA Karachi. Apparently they have put up another Mast in Phase V somewhere and the service now covers the Phase 6/8 area. We were up and running within two hours of ordering!!!! I just wish that the rest of their customer service was just as good!!!! Alas!
The things all have mentioned about the freedom etc are true. At most of the times during the day the connection speeds are pretty decent, but there are times, e.g. between 9pm and midnight every night when the service is terribly slow. I mean I was getting download speeds of just 2 or 3 kb/s. Thats slower then a dial up. The upload speed was even worse. It struggled to open even the basic webpage (BBC.Co.UK). However, generally during the day, the speeds are pretty good for a 256 connection. TBH, at many times I have managed downloads at a speed comparable to a 512 connection, but no doubt that is a glitch and is not something to be relied upon.
As far as the price goes, because we already have a wired connection from WC in the office, we only pay 875Rs per month, which isnt too bad.
Now only if they could sort out the bottle-necks they have during the day and night, the service could be ideal.
But as always with any service in Pakistan, the reliability remains to be seen. So far so good.

Any suggestions:
Although the service is great, EVDO rates should be reduced. I want it to be at Rs. 600 then I will continue it in future, otherwise I must have to disconnect it as soon as possible. Many of my friends want to have EVDO, but paying at least Rs. 1200 is too much for them. If worldcall reduces EVDO rates, most of the cable net users will turn to this easy, durable, dependable device.
WORLDCALL EVDO OFFICERS, PLEASE HAVE SOME CONSIDERATION.
Lanat on worldcall. 1200 for the modem and 899 for 512kbps else they can suck the banana of attal bihari watchpai.
Paf rocks.
waiting when they launched their services in Lahore………?

Please do discount for Students of Karachi University… its too much costly.. 1200 per month…OH MY GOD!!!!!we cant afford it

I didn’t have good experience with EVDO service, I got your service but from day one I didn’t receive proper signals. Lot of time I launch complaint on customer service and visit your FTC-office and told about my problem to your Sr. Supervisor Mr. Noman Javed, initially he sent 2 mails on different time (1st Jan09 at 3:35pm & 5th Jan09 12:50pm) to concern authority but the outcome was zero. No any bodies contact me or resolve my problem as yet. At the end he refused me to solve my problem and gave me Saqib / Sunel number (77309010 & 911). I call Mr Sunel and told about my problem, again the result was same.
This is the example of very pathetic customer and IT service.

Ya its amazing but only in karachi
Affordable, well i’m not sure Rs. 1200 for 256 unlimited looks a little expensive compared to what PTCL is offering (Rs. 1200 for 512 unlimited and there is a discount for students).
why is this service not coming 2 peshawar?i hope we get it soon.people like are ready to give 10,000 for the such modems even.just bring it here to peshawar
the service should also start in BUNER Distt, not only in karachi because every political person or any other always agnore the BUNER so it is kindly requested to you that please star this srevice in BUNER also, that the people of BUNER got some benifits from this serviceand it will be very helpful for students specialy
Hi, every one. today I want to say that it is being heard that the EVDO selling are going to launch two new packages. I hope they will be thinking about the reducing the line rent. Sir I they come down to have 1MB speed in 1500 and 256 KB in 600 and then they will find lines on their office to have the device. I do hope they will do such so let us wait. right now I do not agree with their current packages. looking for their new package
Hi Every one,,
I agree with those who says the device is very expensive. If World call reduce the price of so more then current peoples able to Purchase & gain to benifits of your amazing technalogy becouse of almost 80% criteria of your custoomer is students so think about it.
thanks & regards
Who dayz dis is expensive service or Devoce :O
i m living in malaysia en here Wireless Modem costs more than PKRS 10k
and 1Mbps rates are also bit higher…even though Malaysia is one of Advanced
country of Asia in every respect epecially IT.
I m coming back to Pakistan next month.can anybody plzz tell when Lahore is
getting dis service…?
AOA – i just had my bandwidth upgraded from 256 kbps to 1 Mbps and the speed is fantasticccccccccc – over 100 kb/sec with a very fast response – 2500 per month for a 1 Mbps connection is not expensive keeping in mind the competitors and there service which are usually strucked by a large downtime with crappy service and bad customer service – unlike Wordlcall , i havent had a single disconnection since my first use about 45 days ago
ohhh thats gr8 i mean awesome service.more than awesome.but they gotta start service in islamabad rwp too. yup price is bit issue.it remains low b/w 800.
Sohail
I think WORLDCALL should launch its EV-DO service in Islamabad and Lahore before PTCL do. Islamabad is a small city. WORLDCALL can try schemes like one PTCL introduced with DSL, 1year agreement and free DSL CPE and the cost can be included in monthly package. if not WORLDCALL can introduce this offer for limited number of subscribers, say first 500 customers or so. I think People hesitate to do a large invesment with any technology which has not been used by them before but once they buy, monthly charges is not a problem for them. I think WORLDCALL should think about it.

I am a second year student of Pharmacy how can i afford it plz make sure that the prices would be affordable
Modem should be free of cost and maximum monthly charges of 1Mpbs should be Rs.1000/month.
[...] for users that are always on the go. The Worldcall EVDO service supplies the subscriber with a USB device for Rs. 4500 initially, and then they charge slightly more than what you would pay for a wired [...]
I live in Kohat (NWFP). 2day watching commercial on TV I am on this site but found nothing about my city. Ca they offering their service in Kohat? But still the cost is very very high. Normal earning persons can’t afford such services. I am wondering various websites for broadband service but i can’t afford the package price of Rs.1200/- per month. They should lower the price to Rs.600/- Per month.
It is indeed the most wanted product and the requirement of the time. But I think it is expensive, at least for the people of Pakistan. I am sure that this product will bring upon a healthy competition in market. It must be extended to the other cities promptly.
I think the price of Kbps 512 should be Rs.1000 because this price is affordable for many people who are already using broadband.
This valuable product has not been advertized as much as it should be with all its features. Then the huge demand of it will help company to reduce prices.
Salams everyone,
I have been using popular LAN connectivity for internet uses, nowadays it just got worsen and I planned to get something which could help me even when the powers r off n i m running on UPS.
It seems uptil now that WorldCall’s EVDO is the best option for internet surfing, I am planning to purchase the WiFi router with 256kb link which will enable my all computers at home to access the internet.
I would suggest the new users who r planning to get something for their internet to visit this topic http://www.wiredpakistan.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=2241 as it describes very nicely about the differences between the services n troubles if arrives while using EVDO.
Hope that my experience will be good enough to be shared happily with you all.
Regards,
Mujtaba Panjwani
its too much costly
must be any package for students
i m using wireless net costing 600 per month just using a wireless antina
downloading speed 60 kb to 100 kb so i think thats best speed
2400 RS is too much
i this charges ptcl can be the best
this service i think is just for laptops
in my view if they decrease charges as below
256kb 600 RS
512kb 1000 Rs
1024kb 1800 RS
then its seems to be perfect
otherwise too much costly
becoz competetion is going to tuf
wateen also launching devices
and now ptcl also launch a free net package
zong also in the progress with cheap prices
so this services can be successfull if they decrease rates and launch
more packages
if they dont decrease charges then free net ours introduce
ok best of luck too all
i hope houners of WORLD CALL will pay attention on this matter
and try to solve this matter
how far this thing could work in terms of coverage?….can we take it to say port qasim?
Salaam,
I would like to take a minute and let all of you know this that you guys are nothing but complainers and whiners. People like you stop the modernization of the small countries like Pakistan. If worldcall doesnt bring this service no one has. So you should shut up and enjoy it. If you cannot afford you shouldnt complain either. You complain because you cannot afford. Its like If you cannot afford to drive Mercedes will you complain also ?. So please chill and let them do what they have to do. I live in US and believe me when i come to Pakistan and see that companies like World Call are trying to bring these thing in Pakistan it make me proud because its for a better future in Pakistan.

Hi. todya my concered to tell the reader about the “wateen” as we call it “yateem” i bought it and used it, i did lot of trouble with me thought sales person were good to me, they were come to me to resolve the issue but the service was not be given accordence the commitment. and there were no differance between 1MB and 512 speed except money chargies. i do not know how they come to being. yet their shops are visible as i see there farchies are working. but when i retrun them device they did not retrun my money which they said will be returned. but as i have not used the evdo yet, but i have been user of novtal that is PCMCI card, i bought from the GOCDMA office. when i bought it there was no facilty to use it nation wide but now they have that facility but unfortunatly the my new Laptop dose not support that card i bought i was thinking that why kind of USB device is not come up to fix almost every type of computer. so coustomer can use it easily. when i saw the evdo i have decide to tri it as well because i belive that buy is no problam but service chargies are bit higher, but one keep it in mind we use ten computer at time by using that evdo. and then unlimited 1mb in 2500 is not big deal. and as i found gocdma 256kb service not that worst as i felt using that yateem. so i go to have evdo USB which comes in five thousand. it is great device. but i would like to say that the price for individual should be cut down to use it easily that will bost up their sale, but be fear full when the number of coustomer will grow then the speed will low. becasue it is shared service. but i think by the time some thing new will be arrived. so get what is avilable on the spot. so we go to have it on first of next month. thanks to read all this

In my point of view, if price of the device is less than 2000Rs, I’d to choose the service at once.
The effort of World call is anyways appreciable but much is expected of it to lower the cost of service. I would love to have wireless internet access on the move but at the same time would wish for the same at affordable cost… I also agree with the fact that People who can afford to have handheld devices like EVDO / 3G enabled expensive notebooks or mobile phone etc, can also afford to get this service which is available at approx 1200/ month, but I think you would appreciate the fact that “the cost of mobility is not justified”, because very less number of users would use internet on the move rite now and the rest still just wants to have broadband internet access at affordable rates rather than wishing for internet on the move…One should also care for the less privileged people who also want to have equal opportunity to take part in the overall educational development of the country…..
No offence intended…bt thats what i think of it…
In the end i would say we / the end users will soon get this broadband internet on the move on a much cheaper rates when PTCL will launch their EVDO service..because they always come up with DHAMAKA offeres…like giving the DEVICE free of cost as they did in their DSL service launch…the same is expected incase if EVDO service aswell…best of luck..
AOA,
I just got to know that World call has started this fascinating service of Wireless internet on the move…well it looks exciting as far as the term ” wireless internet on the move ” is concerned, but the question is always of PRICE and affordable mobility….
How many of us would use internet on the move?? If we just want mobility of the kind that we should be able to use internet at different places then we also have option of WIMAX i.e. Carry WIMAX router with you… this service is available at lower costs…And if we just wish to have wireless internet access at any particular location like in homes or offices then we better opt For the more cheaper DSL connection and use a WiFi Router to extend internet access wirelessly… I would still sugest to wait foe the price to get lowered..both Device and monthly charges…
Assalamualikum
I agree with those who says the device is expensive. I think worldcall should reduce the cost of device so that more people can afford this device. I also want to buy this device but still waiting for other compaines to launch the same service so that the price gets reduced. Come on worldcall … be first to provide this service at the lowest cost which can not be matched by others.
Can anyone tell me plz what is the downloading speed on 256 EVDO device?
Assalam o Alaikum,
I’ve read all the comments on this page and finally i would like to say that WORDCALL has to make discount for students….
For the people who say that these price are too high, they plz hold down now a days because prices will be low (INSHALLAH) when other telecom corporation introduce this type of service…….
Thanks,

well i tink the prices are ok….
installation fee is 4500 bcoz tht wireless device is
itself expansive…….
n u guyz r sayin tht it should offer 256 kbps at 600 to 800!!!
is there any other internet service offering tht cheap ratessss!!!!!
PLZ REPLY!!!
can any one tell me the diffrence between wimax & wifi sorry i know this topic shouldnt be disussed here but i had this question for avery long tiume
[...] for users that are always on the go. The Worldcall EVDO service supplies the subscriber with a USB device for Rs. 4500 initially, and then they charge slightly more than what you would pay for a wired [...]
I have Worldcall’s EVDO 256kpbs, and its working fine. I would request the concerned department to slash down their monthly charges.
I think this EVDO is a cool addition in Pakistan Communication sector but to make it accessible for masses there need to be a good price drop.
Rs. 4500 for a USB modem seems too much, I have seen same type of modems selling for a $1 to $5 USD in China in bulk purchase depending on the Quality.
As for the package rates then I think bot Fiber Optic and Wifi (including EVDO) need to be offered on more realistic price tag that is in the reach of those people who arent getting big salaries but ordinary people with ordinary purchasing power.
DSL and Internet companies can make massive profits if they have more clients and sensible rates.
i bought mine today but wen it comes to verifying user name and password it doesnt connect and says ‘fail to error string’ help?
are they offering the 30% discount for students (that is awarded by HEC) on each pakage, as it is offered by PTCL.
i think they should provide services outside karachi city..or in entire sindh
its good but its only working in karachi…
The servicer is attractive but very costly.Needs to be cut down to 500-600 when initial cost is that much high.
Hi All,
EVDO is a standard in basic. My laptop has got EVDO and HSDPA modules, I just don’t need any USB device.
Would WorldCall configure my laptop’s module to receive their service if they are rendering a standard? Or its just another marketing joke like forget about the standard and buy the cheap device to avail the services…
I am off it if it is so…
Keep Cool

I am currently using this world call evdo services with a 256kb connection, well i must say a very very good service, though on the pricing side its high, but its really good as compared to Wateen , Mobilink WiMax and other Broadband service providers.
Plus point is mobility and i have tested it on different locations it works perfectly fine. I must say thanks to Mr. Faraz of WorldCall for introducing it to me. Upload, downloads, surfing is koool really……
With the technology advancements i think this is the best thing in town these days.
I think ppl shouldn’t worry about how much WorldCALL is investing in telecom rather they should say thnx to World Call that they are serving our country thru various telecom services, and this 1 EvDo in Karachi is an excellent 1 a handy mobile device, i used it’s 256kbps and it worked gr8 downloading higher than 60-70kb is excellent. Also they are offering WiFi Router with a 4 LAN, and 1 WAN and 1 WiFi connections and we can get upto 233 Terminals connected thru it. Well I would say Best of Luck to World Call for future technologies.
[...] month Worldcall started its EVDO service in Karachi. Heard that it’ll be coming to Lahore soon. I used EVDO by WOrldcall. it amazing technology.
@Adnan
“Data over wireless connection is not secured” – jumping to conclusions, are we? Not all wireless protocols are insecure. CDMA2000 is pretty good at that.
“this is not wireless lan” – no, it isn’t. CDMA2000 is more secure than wifi. AES encryption is part of the spec.
Search for “evdo security” in your favorite search engine, and also look up AES on wikipedia.
well i am testing the evdo service from world call these days for furutre procurement. The service looks fine but my concern is of security.
Data over wireless connection is not secured. this is not wireless lan. this is something data over CDMA2000 network. the frequesncy ranges over which it works is different. but one always should be careful.
once i complete my security testing, i will share it with all of you.

EVDO device price is not the main problem. Higher monthly package prices are the real problem. They should be offering 256Kbps for 700-800. I understand its wireless but still the cost if very high. They have to lower the tarrif if they want to capture general public.
as-salam-u-alaikum,
I’m using WorldCall eVDO 256K package. It works very well and thus I’m not frustrated while using it anytime.
I admit that the cost is bit more than it should be, however, we should hope that they would reduce their prices in near future since we have competition in the market.
I personally liked their service since it has freedom of wiring and fix location. I have tested connection with simple surfing, download, upload, online gaming, and all other in-use technologies and it worked very well until now.
I’m upgrading from 256K to 1Mbps today. Overall, buying a USB cost 4500 is not too much if we are getting Unlimited Internet Access @ Wireless Connectivity in our pocket.

nice to c this technology arriving in Pakistan but it is bsically targeted for a niche/business market coz in Pakistan security of equipment on the go wud be in question so ppl at home will better settle for the wi-max option
Is this affordable??? Simple broadband with so much rates?
It is better to buy WiMAX service broadband instead of this wireless broadband. Its USB stick is costing Rs4,500… It is so cheap to buy instead of Equipment for WiMAX for Rs8,000 i.e. also on installments now a days.
3G—– I don’t think that in near future any telecom company will proceed with it. it’s equipment is expansive and need full infrastructure. In addition to this… The spectrum allocated for 3G comes in High License Fee. So companies who are opting WiMAX instead of 3G is doing wise decision because less equipment is required, License fee for WiMAX spectrum is negligible and speed is also good. 3G can give maximum 7.2MB/sec speed…where as WiMAX can reach upto 27MB/sec. But right now in Pakistan, PTCl is creating problem for WiMAX companies. lets pray for better future and broadband services on wireless networks. WiMAX installed in Pakistan is also Mobile WiMAX. Only we need to wait for WiMAX enabled Notebooks and Mobiles. Nokia is going to launch first WiMAX enabled mobile for USA users soon.
Surprised they’re launching 3G services! Why is worldcall investing heavily into these services when it doesnt even have mobile rights or is it trying to stretch its WLL license?
Most telco’s are waiting for LTE to come out as it’s expected its devices will be significantly cheaper. So all in all, I am surprised why worldcall is trying to take a lead in this and how it benefits its strategic goals
They need to drop down the cost of the devices.. people love free modems and it is true for the case of wireless aswell.
