Technology Blogs Thrive But Plagiariasm Continues
Over the last few years the landscape for technology information has changed quite a bit. Blogs and discussion forums have become a major source of information for many, replacing traditional journalism. Despite Internet infrastructure issues and the bandwidth limitation, this trend is appparent for Pakistan as well. Bloggers have contributed in all areas as one can see at Bloggers.Pk. The rise in technical and telecommunication blogs in Pakistan is a positive trend but there are a few problems and challenges such as copied content, low quality of content and personal attacks.
Plagiarism continues to be a problem in two ways. First, when some bloggers use content from other sites without proper acknowledgement. Many of these blogs don’t add any real value - they are there just to earn advertisement money. I would urge these folks to re-think their short-term thinking. Secondly, there are print magazines like FLARE which copy content from Internet openly. FLARE has recently started stealing content from Pakistani blogs as well. For example see how the latest issue of FLARE recently copied these posts from ProPakistani blog (here, here and here). In the past FLARE did the same by taking content from my blog. Apparently the advertisers in FLARE are either unaware or insensitive to the lack of ethics. Whatever the reason my be, it is only a matter of time before such practices will be exposed.
On a positive note, this indicates that blogs have become the dominant source of original and fresh content. These blogs provide a valuable feedback loop for the companies operating in Pakistan. Bloggers should continue to think, write and analyse the technology industry despite the problems mentioned above.
TelecomPk.Net is a leading source of information and analysis about Pakistan Telecom industry.

Bhatti sb, thanks for taking notice of the instances. Besides the links you mentioned, there are other at least 7 other articles they took from my blog.
I hope magazine’s management will now re-think their policies and will start spending some money on their editorial and reporting department as well… instead of just earning huge bucks from advertising…!

Bhatti sb, thanks for taking notice of the instances. Besides the links you mentioned, articles they took from other blog, like ProPakistani.com flare is copied matter in this site always in every issue.
Its team is always copied other web site copy of matter have no editorial team.
I hope magazine’s management will now re-think their policies and will start spending some money on their editorial and reporting department as well… instead of just earning huge bucks from advertising…!
I m agree Mr. Aamir Attaa he also very good man and very creative and good grip of the telecom atricle. keep it up…………………
ohh they did it again? didn’t they learn anything from your previous complain? i wonder why advertisers give them ads? or they just blackmail them? I think now we all should get together and reach someone in telcos and ask them coz they actually encouraging Flare in doing all this
Well, we all bloggers must have to unite to write a strong protest letter jointly to Govt. Officials including Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Chairman PTA and Minister of IT & Telecom to inform the situation.
If they will not take notice, we have to focus on international media about it.
FLARE’s sister publication “Monthly OCTANE” was banned last year when the Flare Mangement showed non-serious and anti-Islam attitude by publishing a Fashion Show under the title ” Adam and Eve Show” containing images of Hadhrat Adam (A.S) and Hadhrat Eve (A.S) . Chief Editor Mr. Zubair Kasuri had argued that it was just an advertisement which had been published elsewhere. But intrestingly if it was a paid advertisement, why it was included in the Content Page of the magazine also?
This is too bad, magazine should apologize for this
My intention is to raise concerns about patterns of abuse. I am glad that there are bloggers who write and share their original thoughts, knowledge and expertise. Lets focus on the positive side and hopefully the content thieves will eventually get what they deserve.
wel.. its history of flare … they are blackmailer and thief :)
they cant write by theirselves .. :) just google seared articles :)
thats all about flare
loosers
:)
Baber, you are right….things should go neatly. Everyone should be given the due credit for the work he/she does.
New comers should be given an open chance to do something different and new. There must be no monopoly….
good work keep it up…
Mr Farhan:
I think you not understood my mistake and trying to bring same thing again and again. I have nothing to clear you again because I’m not suppose to answer you, a man who don’t have his full name even.
Dear Readers,
Please read his mentioned post on this website. Read comments and decide yourself. I am not on web for earning or doing marketing. It was mere mistake and I did apology and not took any share from Farhan’s dish as he is trying to mention again and again.
Happy readings and surfing…!
One more thing, ask Mr. babar Bhatti that who bringed in your notice about this Flare issue first time. If it is me then how I can follow the same practice. I said so many times that it was a unintentional mistake and did only because I got mail from my friend and wanted to share the same with others. I had no source so not mentioned. But I never claimed in front of Babar Bhatti that it is my own post.

Don’t fight and be generous guys. The more you give the more you get :) Believe me. Life is, which others benefit out of it. Look at yourself where you are today, had someone not made the way for you, you wouldn’t be where you’re today. :)
I wonder if the original writers can sue for copyright violation…
