Jaadu: The First iPhone App From A Pakistani Developer
Thanks to Jehan Ara for sharing this great news.
Meet brilliant young Jahanzeb Sherwani, the first developer from Pakistan whose application has been accepted into Apple’s iPhone App store!
Jahanzeb is going to talk at an event at The Second Floor (T2F) on October 11th at 7pm. He will talk about Jaadu - an application which allows you to connect to your PC through iPhone using VNC. A bit about his background:
Jahanzeb is a final year PhD student at Carnegie Mellon University and is working on speech interfaces for emerging markets in South Asia. He believes speech interfaces can be a revolutionary medium of interaction for a massive cell-phone consumer base that has, for the most part, not been able to tap into the digital revolution.

Well Done Boy
Well Done Jahanzab !
@ nayef:
all Jadoo does is enable u to operate a “mouse” to your PC from iPhone!
I donno wats sucha big deal about it! You can scroll on a touchpad/screen of iPhone n ur actually browsing thru yr PC. I know PC, not even MAC!! Will find out the details on 11th at t2f. Be there to know more.
It’s a shame how the world is so shocked on finding the developer to b Pakistani!!
Actually Jaadu allows you to access your computer (Mac or PC) remotely from anywhere in the world and work on any files on your desktop without having to carry your laptop with you. That is in fact really cool :-). But Jahanzeb will tell us and show us exactly what it does on the 11th at T2F.
We are not shocked or surprised that the developer is from Pakistan - we are just thrilled that his achievement has been recognized by Apple Inc.
Anyone who has done mobile development can tell you that getting your app on apple store is not easy.
Jahanzeb’s work on speech interfaces for developing countries is even more impressive and he has published many papers in peer-reviewed journals. I will be writing more about that soon.
