P@SHA ICT Awards 2008: Telecom Related Winners
The 2008 P@SHA ICT Awards ceremony was held at Marriott hotel in Karachi on Oct 31. A number of ICT companies and individuals were awarded the prestigious P@SHA award. Some of the companies which received the award have been covered at TelecomPk earlier.
This was an excellent and upbeat ceremony which broguth together some of the brightest minds in Pakistan high tech industry. Some bloggers covered the ceremony live from the event site using Wateen’s WiMAX connectivity. Our congratulations to all of the award winners and the runner-ups. Here’s a short list of telecom related winners.
- See n Report - People Powered News - won the award in the ward in e-Inclusion & e-Community Applications category.
- Jaadu won the Communications Award. The Merit in this category went to FoneiTall developed by Five Rivers Technologies.
- The Converged Media Solutions application developed by PixSense won the Digital Media & Entertainment Award.
- Umar Saif received award for Chopaal, the group messaging product.

Furqan Qureshi, GM Strategy & Corporate Business of Wateen Telecom, who, when invited, actually wanted to know why we hadn’t asked them to sponsor the event. Within minutes he and Athar Jamal, GM Marketing had come back to me with a commitment for the Gold Sponsorship. Yes I think highlighting the product innovation that is taking place here, does motivate others. I spoke at iTEC at NED a couple of months ago, talking about the innovation that is taking place in our industry and the young people that are spearheading a lot of it.
Today I spoke at the Software Competition at Szabist and told them about the larger established companies, the younger mid-sized companies and the many ideapreneurs that have emerged. The audience consisted of kids from 0 and A levels from various schools and CS students from various universities. I believe my presentation changed a few perceptions and motivated both the faculty and the kids.
I knew P@SHA ICT awards organized at Karachi Marriott Hotel, awards were organized with the collaboration of BearingPoint, Wateen, the National ICT R&D Fund, Oracle Kalsoft, Dell Computers, PSEB. Wateen was gold sponsor of this event and provided free WIFI access to the audience. Many company representatives came and were very motivated to get awards.
@Jehan - your role as an ambassador and motivational speaker for Pakistan ICT industry is commendable. We are very proud of you and wish you all the best and all our support.
