Broadband Discounts For Students By PTCL, LinkDotNet
With the push for broadband adoption in Pakistan and younger people being a dominant demographics for digital services, a positive trend is emerging:Â telecommunication companies are offering discounts to students for broadband access. Here is the price information from PTCL. Students get a generous 30% discount on 3 DSL packages and they have the choice to apply online or in-person. PTCL has taken the initiative of sending teams to colleges and universities all over pakistan. Through these PTCL representatives, students can apply for broadband discount at the spot. Works very well for those who do not have Internet access or those who are more comfortable with applying in-person.
If you go for the online option - the ordering site is intelligent. Once you select a city, the next page shows you the colleges/universities in and around that city in a drop-down list. I chose Lahore and it showed a comprehensive list of colleges and universities in the drop-down. The student broadband packagehere includes an e-learning module as well. Given the extensive reach of PTCL broadband (over 100 cities) this is a benefit that many can avail. Kudos to PTCL for this!
Aamir Ataa wrote about broadband discount from LinkDotNet for students but for some reason LinkDotNet has not officially posted any such information on their site. According to Aamir’s post, the discount offered by LinkDotNet is limited to selected universities (FAST, UMT and Pak-AIMS). Discount varies from 30% (for 512kbps) to just 9% (for 2 Mbps). hey,i think we should give some time to LINKdotNET,after all it’s new addition in broadband market.it doesn’t matter if LDN offering limited services (discounted services for students)we should first check it’s commitment and timely avalibility of desired offer.
i know and admit that PTCL is dealing in more than 100 cities but they should hard work and also take some strategic step for the right implementation of their services/promotions.i have applied many times for student packges but still waiting and i think this online system is only blunder,nothing else.

is this connection available in universities and hostels only. what abuot the students living in homes, cant they enjoy this discount?
Well Friends good news that LINKdotNET offered Student Packages with Discounts , it is applicable now, soon we will see other universities and companies etc.

These Connections are aslo available to the students at home. What you have to give is your proper ID to verify that you truly belong to that Institute/ University.

aoa! dear all, thx to share this important information. its true that LDN is providing discounted rates. but its more then ptcl. ptcl charges 1200pm with dicount its 840. but LDN is porviding same pakage 885. so ptcl is comparitivly better. (but only if ptcl provide the discount:)any way its not that much amount even with ldn. ok can any body tell, ldn or other isp gives the phone ficility with dsl or not (except wateen coze that soo expensive and in so many areas ther is no service).

I was using Linkdotcom connection for last 3 months it gives downloadin speed from 90 to 98 Kbps. But now I am using PTCL Broadband Student Package and trust me it give from 115 to 120 kbps. Forget about Linkdotcom because there is one more thing that ptcl your bill just comes in your regular bill but for linkdotcom you’ll have to go to there office itself. Most irritating thing if you want them to pick your bill from home they cost 50 rs per visit. It totally screwed me. Now its up to you what you choose but trust me PTCL is better in every way.
