The Internet Anywhere campaign came out about 1 1/2 years ago. (yahan bhi, yahan bhi.)

They are capitalizing upon the fact that each and every Telenor SIM is pre-activated for GPRS/EDGE, that users dont have to configure APN settings on their mobile device (pushed automatically upon device detection) and that they have country-wide GPRS coverage (each cell site is GPRS enabled).

So, I guess Wimax and DSL are not the only options for getting on the internet. :)

Omar – thanks for sharing the fact that all Telenor SIMs are pre-activated for data. These things matter a lot in getting and retaining customers.

Telenor has about 95% of its cell sites EDGE enabled and it has biggest data network in Pakistan.

been using Telenor connection for a couple of years now and its true that you can access GPRS/EDGE anywhere where Telenor offers its services. I guess based on this someone can claim to offer Internet anywhere. Not only is the connection preactivated with GPRS but Telenor pushes out internet settings whenever i change my handset. And trust me from my recent experience with Zong Telenor is still miles ahead of any operator in Pakistan on GPRS and internet connectivity. Recently the company has also entered into a partnership with opera Mini and is offering the browser to its customers as well. Personally i really like the way Telenor has approached the Mobile Internet phenomenon with whatever capacity they have & and its very heartening to know that atleast some operator is working to provide good GPRS products.

    Hi all
I am a postpaid user of Warid as well as of Telenor for a long time. If you make a comparison where both are providing EDGE, i.e. in Barkat Market, Lahore. I downloaded the same file from Telenor sim and Warid sim but Warid was the leader, I have stayed in ISB for a year and a half, F-8/2, even there the Telenor didn’t provide great speed whereas on Warid I have been receiving upto 28 kb/sec download speed and in LHR while downloading the file it sometimes even crossed 30 kb/sec and then stable between 25-29 kb/sec and whereas Telenor was giving only around 7-11 kb/sec. In ISB there was always problem. I’ll recommend go for Warid if anyone of you is interested.
If anyone of you is thinking for Wateen, don’t ever go for Wateen, their refund policy is really shit, they don’t return you the amount. When you’ll go for the purchase of connection, they’ll offer you 2000-3000 as discount and when you get the service, they’ll ask you either deposit that remaining amount or give up the services. This incident happened to me when I was in ISB and atlast I had to leave my deposit as they said that 2000 was adjusted in connection installation and bla bla. I even contacted their Country General Manager Furqaan Qureshi, he said that he’ll help me out getting my deposit and asked customer relations head Zafar Chohan to look into my case but he also played the same story. So brothers avoid Wateen otherwise you’ll be trapped infact.
