Internet Kiosks At The Airports: Brand Marketing Opportunities

Traveling through Lahore and Karachi, I noticed Internet and pay phone services at the airports. Wateen made the first attempt to put complimentary kiosks for travelers as a service and earned good brand recognition from it. I think it was a successful advertising strategy by Wateen. I also noticed Mobilink Infinity kiosk at Karachi airport. However like most things in Pakistan, most of these kiosks did not work. It is hard to maintain a public facility as its subject to rough handling, even abuse. But I think telecom companies can do better than leaving dysfunctional kiosks at the airports. By keeping these services up-to-date and functional, it can create good brand impression and viral marketing. I can think of a number of ways in which subtle or more direct promotions can be run on these kiosks.
