Telenor To Sell iPhone In Scandinavia – Pakistan To Follow?

Telenor announced that it has signed an agreement with Apple to bring iPhone 3G to Sweden, Denmark and Norway in the coming months. More information will come later. Of course, there’s no way to tell if this agreement will extend over to other countries such as Pakistan.

As we discussed before, having an official carrier of iPhone does not matter that much in Pakistan. It is certainly a good marketing opportunity for that mobile network operator. For the consumers, it will allow them to get a brand new boxed phone (for a high price though) with proper support. Let’s see!

sallam is iphone official in pakistan yet or can i get from pak

  2. Scandinavia has had iPhones for quite some time actually – just by way of different service provider. In Denmark it’s http://telia.dk/privat/produkter/mobil/

Being Danish myself I hope the new deal btw Telenor/Apple will bring either lower subscription costs or better 3G coverage – the two main points of critique until now.

Why Pakistan doesnot make its own mobile and export it.

A large portion of the electronics in phones are not manufactured locally, and can’t be made here without a huge investment in fabrication plants. Making phones locally doesn’t make much sense when you’re already importing the most expensive parts.

I am not very hopeful. Such deals are restricted to certain geographical area. Previously, Singtel and China Mobile had similar agreements with Apple :(
    lets wait for 3G first.
