TelecomPk.Net is a leading source of information and analysis about Pakistan Telecom industry.
Telecom sector caters for more than ninety percent revenue of all satellite channels but most ads create confusion instead of Providing information to the audience.Take for example the latest ad of Mobilink Jazz where one friend is found using the SIM of his friend which is clear violation of PTA laws as any the use of SIM which is not registered on ones name is a punishable crime in Pakistan.I wonder does this company endorse viewers to break all rules in the country?
[...] classic TVCs. But before that I would share an interesting comment on my last weeks post about the Jazz Sim Lagao offer. On the other hand just look how neat and clean; comprehensive advertising Indigo has done through [...]
Jazz is an example of Bad Planning. Having low Budgets is not an excuse, the ads don’t seem to contain any clever moves. Since its EOY 2009 so they’re trying to waste all the remaining budget in useless advertising. OT has put a 10% HR slash on every department looking at their wasteful utilization. Their situation is further going to deteriorate in the coming year. VPs will be forced to leave to cut further costs and existing Directors will be put in-charge for specific functions. It’s in the air right now but will materialize soon. I fully support such move and have voiced wherever possible since the beginning of this process to cut them half from the top and not from the bottom.
@PyarImpossible you are right about the point of GET A NEW SIM FREE OF COST. And point the brand name (Jazz) calling out million times, its their way of doing it. Though they can probably revamp on it. About the postpaid, agreed they have set a standard with Indigo, this is also the very reason they are the largest postpaid family.
@Qudsia hmmm. Ufone element. They added a little comic element into the ad. Lets keep this to judge till their next ad, if they are really following the Ufone element!
Mobilink is following Ufone’s advertising strategy and has gone off track with its own brand positioning with this new advertisement “Sim Lagao, Mazaay Uraao!”
On the other hand just look how neat and clean; comprehensive advertising Indigo has done through their ‘When Its My Time, iTalk and iSMS. Uber cool advertising and also adstrip on the Facebook is well-done. Flawless campaign in terms of advertising, packages design and strategy to market and promote. Finally they are hitting the micro-segments of postpaid through their packages and advertising. Well done!
1. What’s with the brand name (Jazz) call outs million times? Don’t they know disruption has transitioned into engagement? Engagement is natural dialog. Being natural makes you distinguishable. Do they know all of this or should I teach them publicly?
2. Why can’t they cover 2 dimenions in 1 TVC? Why did they miss to insert the conversation to ‘GET A NEW SIM FREE OF COST’ of he can’t find his sim. Now they are going to waste another TVC to communicate that message. Don’t they know the methods to optimize communication.
