Beware of Zong Bara Recharge Offer

Last week we talked about the Zong’s Bara Recharge offer being promoted on their facebook page. As mentioned earlier that clarity about the offer was expected from the official announcement. The Bara Recharge offer is now officially announced on mainstream media and on their website.

Details on the offer are given on their web link here here and the TVC is as follows.

The TVC has no mention of few important conditions of the offer found on their FAQ page, which is rarely read by majority of customers.

Before using the offer customer must be beware of:

  • The free minutes offer is valid on only the special Bara Recharge scratch cards not on normal prepaid vouchers.
  • The free minutes will be awarded on after tax value not on the actual card value.
  • These free min can be used for dialing any Zong number and not on other networks (on-net only).

Hiding such important details of the campaign is to mislead consumers. For similar reasons, Zong was earlier pointed out by CCP and they had signed undertaking for compliance with provisions of the Competition Ordinance.

The Bara Recharge campaign is again an deceptive marketing approach and authorities must take notice of it.

Then what action could be take against telenor? they’ve mentioned on their site that from 15th march onwards, sms packages will have 50% on-net & 50% off-net division. i suddenly check their site today & came to know this bullshit from telenor. i think majority of customers/subscribers still don’t know about it.
