How USF is Promoting Renewable Energy Use by Pakistan Telecom Industry






Given the energy crisis in Pakistan, using alternative and renewable energy sources such as solar energy for industry use in Pakistan is highly desirable. The challenge of course is the high initial cost of renewable energy projects. In an interesting example of using public policy to drive long term benefits for society, Universal Service Fund of Pakistan has made the use of renewable energy compulsory for all Base Stations funded by USF. Here’s one of these base stations. The information shown below is taken from a presentation by USF CEO Mr. Parvez Iftikhar at Mobile Expert Forum in Islamabad.
