Telecom companies in Pakistan are seen working towards the social improvements in the society under their CSR activities.
The popular ones from last year include:
Telenor Khuddar Pakistan initiative for the persons with disabilities.
Ufone Child Healthcare Initiative which will revamp Children Ward and Children OPD in major hospitals nationwide with the goal of making it more hygienic and comfortable. Ufone has started with a revamp of Children Ward/OPD at the Federal Government Services Hospital, Islamabad commonly known as Polyclinic.
We have been hearing about Warid’s merger/stake sold-out recently. But with every such news, no matter if its been quoted by local and international newspapers, Warid has officially denied it. On the other hand I have observed not significant but a little less boost in its marketing practice.
Have you noticed the common elements between the telecom industry of Pakistan and Bangladesh? Three of the top 4 telecom companies in Bangladesh are also doing business in Pakistan. Telenor is present in all of sub-continent. Regulatory authorities in Bangladesh (BRTC) and Pakistan (PTA) have also worked together and shared best practices. Here’s a short review of the mobile telecom companies in Bangladesh.
Earlier this week, The National, a news paper from Abu Dhabi published a story about Abu Dhabi Groups plans to sell controlling stakes of Warid Telecom to any potential buyer. Below are the excerpts from the news item.
“Every operator in Pakistan is looking for consolidation,” said Bashir Tahir, the chief executive of the Abu Dhabi Group. “We are talking to every operator and we know they are also talking to each other.”
Ezetop, an international group focused on international and online mobile phone top-up today. It provides services of top-up to any phone back home for many countries, including Pakistan.
We wish all stake holders of the Pakistan Telecom Industry a Very Happy New Year. At the beginning of December 2009 we started a poll about Your Favorite Cellular Operator – 2009 and with the end of 2009, the poll has closed.
We are here with the results of the poll where readers had to choose their favorite out of the five. From a total of 1060 votes Ufone stands out the most favorite and Warid being the second favorite with a difference of just 1%.
After IM over SMS warid brings in SMS to PTCL V-Fone. Now all Warid customers can receive and send SMS to any V-PTCL number within Pakistan any day any time.
Dawn News has reported today that PTA in its recent QOS survey have found that operators have failed to meet the set standards despite being asked to improve on it. PTA have issues a show-cause notice to all cellular operators over this issue. I wish PTA gives out the details of the survey to general public like they did in 2007, so that we can judge operators on basis of their QOS.
Earlier I mentioned about the Warid overseas SIM information correction help, a similar service is being provided by all other cellular operators. The process is more or less the same for all.
For Telenor check the details here, for Ufone follow this link, Zong customers can get the details from here and Mobilink the details can be found at this link.
Overseas customers must make use of this service and get all their information corrected at the earliest.
If you are residing abroad and have your SIMs issued against your National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP), you can like NIC holders follow the link www.pta.gov.pk/668 in order to confirm the number of SIMs in your name.
In case the count of Warid numbers exceeds the actual Warid numbers currently in your usage, WaridTel helps you correct you SIM information.
The year 2009 have been very competitive for our cellular operators. New packages/offers, products, ads, counter ads, quizes, social media use etc. have taken competition to a new level. But of all their efforts the most important thing yet to be known is which cellular operator was customer’s favorite – YOUR Favorite?
Take sometime out to vote and leave comments on why you like your operator. The poll will be open till 31 December, 2009.
Vote and make your friends vote and lets find out the Favorite Cellular Operator – 2009.
Obnoxious calls/missed calls or SMSs are sometimes very disturbing. In this post I will do a round-up of the Block Services being offered by our telecom operators.
